Friday suggestion:

In the spirit of the popular Sound of Music song, 'My Favorite Things' (lyrics HERE), make a list of your favorite things, big or small, that you think of when things are going bad.

I don't know if you've done these yet but they'd be fun for Halloween prompts.

(List) Favorite Horror Movies
(Twosday) Modern or Classic Horror
(Graphic) What are you wearing for Halloween this year?
(RP) Halloween party

Lexi-mun here ^_^
Here's a good Monday prompt idea: What have you learned about your characters since starting to write for them?

Not really a prompt—more of an activity, perhaps?

I'd like to see more activity on the RP comm. Yes, there's the IRC RP & OOC rooms, but I always feel I'm missing out on a lot because I'm only on at certain times. (Perhaps a journal-based OOC area as well?) {Not that the IRC isn't big fun—I guess I'm just more used to journal-based RPGing.}

And I'm going to have to third or fourth the suggestion for a Giant List of Muses—which could be something along the lines of a Mod!Post with "Comment with your muses & their fandoms" (& then have a special tag for this—or add it to the links under the header—so it can be found easily). Along with letting muns know see who's being played (& where they're from), this would also give muses from the same fandom a chance to find each other.

Hi all,
So I know this is going to sound really stupid, but I just recently stumbled across this whole roleplay concept while looking through random communities the other day, and I have now become very interested in the whole idea. I’m not sure I totally understand it though.
Am I correct that some people roleplay with pre-existing characters from other books/movies/tv shows and others make up completely new characters?
I have searched lj and the entire internet for an explanation of roleplaying for very novice beginners and just can’t find anything.
I don’t even know why I’m so interested in the idea because I don’t at all think I’m a good writer.

For Friday, borrowed from <lj-user=docsgirl>: 5-10 tropes you use as part of your character/story

I would love to see sort of a basic character development sheet.
Either to be used in developing more dimensional characters, or just to keep an introduction of them on the site. I've searched them, and they range from very simple to pages and pages of description.

I would love to see a Monday prompt that was something like . . . "Have you ever done anything/made anything in real life because it would make one of your characters happy? Have you ever made or purchased a prop to go with your character?"

I am working on a really cool art project for one of my characters, and realized that this is not at all uncommon for me. I wonder if it is common for other people as well.

Also, a certain character of mine once convinced me to eat anise-flavored cookies because he liked them so much. Please tell me I'm not the only one to have eaten something I would normally consider revolting at the prompting of an imaginary person. (I even liked it. WRONG!)

For Thursday:
1. The mark of the immature man (this is inspired by a line from The Catcher in the Rye)
2. 4 (yes, the number four)
3. Thirst
4. High

For Friday:
1. Artifacts found on you at the time of death (speculative I know, for most characters anyway)

I'm really new at this. Hopefully these concepts haven't been covered several times already.

Look in the mirror and describe a) what you see and b) how you feel about it.

1. As a writer, we think we know what a muse WILL do. So flip that, and list ten things that your pup would NEVER do...no way, no how. (Mun prompt)

2. Someone took something from you. How would you get it back? (pup prompt)

3. Upload the Rorshacht ink blot test images, and then have the muses interpret them. (I think it would be a WILD prompt for muses, or even for people to compare one muse of theirs to another of their own, or to have two writers have their pups compare their responses!)

For Wednesday: Show a picture of your character's favorite hobby. IDK if that has been done before cause I haven't been here long, but that would be cool.

It seems that most prompts found here center on the assumption that a story/world/characters have already been established. Due to this many times I am unable to use them because I simply do not know the answers as yet.
It would be lovely if one day a week the prompt was designed to help with the character creation and world building that accompanies a fresh tale.

I don't know what day it'd be for but how about a six word story (like on the sixwordstories comm) for our character.
