The Time has Come, the Walrus Said, to Talk of Many Things...

Dear Charlofters past and present,

We regret to announce that — though eleventy-one years is far too short a time to spend among such most excellent writers — this is the END. We are going. We are leaving NOW.

...alright, not exactly 'now', but in the foreseeable future.

Charloft has had a good run with five years of almost-daily writing prompts. In the last few months, we've found ourselves as moderators slacking off more and more. We have missed many of our daily prompts and dragged on our deadlines to get things done. One of our moderators, iiudian, has been invaluable in picking up more than his share of the slack, and we are grateful to him, but it is time for us to admit that collectively, as moderators, we are pretty burned out.

We promised you a 100 Drabbles of Summer if you gave us prompts-- and you gave us prompts! In great number! We thank you for your investment. It's the writers who have always made this community awesome.

Because we would hate to renege on the inspiration you gave us, we will be holding one last 100 Drabbles of Summer. We will be using your prompts, and we hope to get the table up in the next few days.

That said, there will be no daily prompts throughout the duration of the drabble challenge, and when it ends, Charloft too will be going away-- at least, as a daily prompt community.

We will not be deleting the community, of course; it will remain online, so that the hundreds and hundreds of prompts people have answered over the last five years will remain available to be read, appreciated, and admired. If members wish to use the community to post prompts or writing questions, you are welcome to do so! We are so proud of all of the writing that Charloft has helped facilitate and inspire over the years, and we thank you for sticking with us for so long. Continue to write, in whatever format and on whatever site you find the inspiration.

Thank you also to all our moderators, past and present. We couldn't have done it without any of you.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

-Your Charloft mod team

Oh, and Happy Fourth of July!

eta Just to clarify, we may put up a few more prompts we've been sitting on, in case anyone sees them happening and is confused!
